3 Things to Do This Winter on Topsail Island

Search for Shells and Shark Teeth

Topsail Island is known to many locals as a great place to find some of the best shells. There is also usually an abundance of shark teeth along the shore of our beaches. During the summer months, you may find that finding a lot of good shells and shark teeth is hard to come by. Winter months are one of the best times to see them as winter storms churn up beautiful shells, sea glass, and even shark teeth. What are you most excited about finding?

Go Fishing

Fishing is prevalent during the warmer months, but did you know that the fish still bite during the winter months? One of the best things is getting to head over to one of the many piers in the area and fishing for the day. The pier won’t be as crowded as well, which can make it more fun for the whole family to enjoy. There are three piers within the Topsail Island area for you to enjoy: Seaview Pier, Surf City Ocean Pier, and Jolly Roger Pier. Think of the new memories you’ll make by fishing with the whole family this winter.

Visit Serenity Point

Another place that is a hit for most who visit Topsail Island is Serenity Point, at the Southern tip of Topsail Island. You’ll find that this area is undeveloped and is perfect if you’re looking for a bit of isolation from the crowds. Walk along the shoreline as you hunt for those unique shells and shark teeth. Please note that there is a limited amount of parking spaces.

DON’T MISS THESE EVENTS HAPPENING NEAR TOPSAIL ISLAND IN DECEMBER

Topsail Flotilla & Christmas Market

A favorite event for the locals must be the Topsail Area Flotilla and Christmas Market at Soundside Park. The Christmas Market will open at 10:00 am, beginning with arts & crafts made by local vendors, and will end at 4:00 pm on both December 3^rd & 4^th, 2022. The Flotilla will begin at 5:45 pm but arrive at around 6:45 pm at Soundside Park. There will be live entertainment, food trucks, and so much more for the whole family to enjoy!

Jingle on the Beach

Another family-friendly event in nearby Wrightsville Beach is the Jingle on the Beach. This event is on Saturday, December 10^th, 2022, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. This is filled with many memories, photos, arts & crafts, and so much more. The Azalea Festival hosts the Jingle on the Beach, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Cape Fear Volunteer Center & Big Buddy. Be sure to get your tickets today for a free adult ticket with one child’s ticket if purchased in advance.

Spend Thanksgiving on Topsail Island this Year

Are you and your family looking to do something different this year for Thanksgiving? If the answer is yes, let us share a few reasons why you should visit this year. Gobble Wobble Run

Before starting the day on Thanksgiving morning, head over to New River Inlet Road in North Topsail Island for the Gobble Wobble Run. This is a 5K that is happening on Thursday, November 24^th, beginning at 7:00 am and ending at 10:30 am. The race cost is $15.00 per person, and it’s just the perfect start to a beautiful day before the Macy’s Day Parade begins. What a fun event to attend with the whole family this Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Another way your family can spend Thanksgiving on Topsail Island is by cooking Thanksgiving dinner in your suite. One of the best things that many love about our luxury hybrid suites has the way to cook. Instead of heading to a busy and crowded restaurant in nearby towns, you can have your holiday dinner right in your room. Think of the new memories you will make by enjoying spending the day with the whole family as you fix a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Don’t Miss These October Events Happening Near Topsail Island

33rd Annual Autumn with Topsail

Returning for its 33^rd year is Autumn with Topsail Festival. This is a 3-day long festival that will start on Friday, October 14^th, and end on Sunday, October 16^th. Join Topsail Island as we celebrate over on the grounds of the Historical Society of Topsail Island. Here you’ll be able to listen to live music, shop with local arts & crafts vendors, enjoy some tasty food, and even have a kid’s zone. Admission to Autumn with Topsail is $5 per person on Friday night, $6 for one-day admission & $10 for two days. Kids 12 & under are free along with Active Military Personnel with a valid ID. Be sure to purchase your tickets today to enjoy this fun fall festival!

Fall Fest

Another excellent fall festival that is happening near Topsail Island this year is Fall Fest. This event will be held at Soundside Park in Surf City, NC, which many locals love. This year it will be held on Saturday, October 22^nd, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Fall Fest is a free event that will bring family fun to the area. They will have inflatables for the kids to play on, live music, and even food trucks. Think of the new memories you’ll make this October when you attend this event with the kids.

51st Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival

If you’re looking for another great festival close to Topsail Island, check out the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival. Returning for its 51^st year is a wonderful festival with lots of fresh seafood. This event is happening on Friday, October 21^st, and Saturday, October 22^nd, at 126 Park Lane in Sneads Ferry. Friday night, you can head there at 5:00 pm, where you’ll be able to listen to live music, rides, games, and even fireworks. You may want to get there a little early on Saturday as they will have a parade at 9:00 am. The festival will have plenty of things for the kids to do, including bounce houses, touch tanks, and more. No one will be bored with this fun festival this October.

Escape to Topsail Island this Fall

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over, and the kids are back in school. Instead of worrying about what you haven’t been able to do this summer, kick back and take a relaxing trip to Topsail Island. Staying with us at Saltwater Suites will keep you and your family wanting to come back more. Look below how your family can enjoy your escape to our beautiful island.

Beautiful Weather

The weather in Topsail Island during the fall months is a favorite for many of our guests. The high temperature of 83° during the day and a low of 65° in the evening in September make a perfect beach day. During October, you’ll find a high of 75° with a low of 54°. You will see that during the fall months, it may rain a total of 8 days or so in September and about six days in October. With the weather still warm enough during the day, you can enjoy the beach with the family.

Less Crowded

Another reason to escape to the beach during the fall is fewer crowds. Imagine getting to head to the beach in the morning and not having to search for the best spot; there are plenty to choose from. If you decide to go to the Battleship, you won’t have to worry about it being super crowded unless on the weekends. You’ll be able to find a restaurant and not have to wait a long time, and there is very little traffic.

3 Fun Things to Do with the Kids on Topsail Island

Do you and your family have a trip planned to Topsail Island soon? If the answer is yes, let us share a few fun things you can do with the kids. Staying with us at Saltwater Suites will keep you and your family close to the fun. See below for three fun things you can do with kids on Topsail Island.

Jolly Roger Pier

The Jolly Roger Pier is located on Topsail Island and is the perfect spot to do some local fishing. Here you’ll be able to fish for only $16 per person per day, or if you choose to walk on the pier, it’s only $2 per person. You may even spot a dolphin or a sea turtle at the end of the dock if you’re lucky. Jolly Roger Pier does have different packages that you can choose from. Think of the fun the whole family will have when you visit the pier and have a little fishing fun together!

Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue Center

Another great place that the kids may enjoy is taking them to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue Center. This rescue & rehabilitation center is in Surf City, but it can’t be missed. Take a guided tour around the Sea Turtle Hospital and see what they do to rescue these beautiful animals. You will even have the chance to adopt a Sea Turtle or a nest which is fantastic if you think about it. They also have a gift shop so that you can take home a souvenir or two to remember your visit.

Hunt for Shark Teeth and Seashells

One of the best things about visiting Topsail Island is getting out on the sand and enjoying the sun. Let the kids hunt for seashells and, even better, shark teeth while you’re spending all day there. Bring a mesh bag with you for each kid so that they can collect pretty seashells, sea glass, or even those teeth. Many remarkable things have been found in the sand, so it may be your turn to find one. What do you think their friends would say if they came home showing their treasure from the beach?

Who Are We?

We know that many who come to Topsail Island are looking for a way to relax and enjoy time together without the hassle of renting a giant vacation rental or generic hotel room. Saltwater Suites was built to bridge the gap between both worlds! We completed construction in May 2022 with four unique room styles: Sundown Room, Barefoot Room, Low Tide Room & The Nest Room. Each room boasts unique features that set them apart from the ordinary Topsail hotel. With individual decor and style each room offers a luxury experience with an ocean view!

Luxury Stay

Saltwater Suites is a hotel that offers you 5-star accommodations that will have you wanting to stay longer. We have completed the first phase of our plan, which includes 24 luxury units to choose from, and by 2024, we will complete phase two. Our suites include a fully equipped kitchen, a view of the ocean, a living room with a sleeper sofa, two queen-sized beds, and a full-size front-loading washer & dryer. We can promise you that you won’t find any hotel in the area that offers these fantastic amenities!
